Electric Amber Old Fashioned

Who doesn’t love an Old Fashioned? This is a delicious and unique spin. Hat tip to Veranda Magazine for this Electric Amber Old Fashioned recipe. Very minor tweaks for my preference, but this one is very good.

Ingredients for an Electric Amber Old Fashioned

• 2 oz. barrel proof rye whiskey (I love Willett)
• 1/4 oz. Amaro
• 1 tsp. bourbon barrel aged maple syrup
• 2 dashes Angostura bitters
• 1 dash of Peychaud bitters
• Herbsaint absinth rinse
• Maraschino cherry, for garnish
• lemon, for garnish

How to Make an Electric Amber Old Fashioned

1. Add a large ice cube to your cocktail glass. Pour the absinth over the ice, swirl and then pour out the absinth. Alternately, you can leave it in for an extra kick.
2. Add ice, rye whiskey, Amaro, barrel aged maple syrup and bitters to a mixing glass and stir for 20-30 seconds. Strain the drink into your glass.
3. Garnish with cherry and lemon peel.
4. Enjoy.
