How to Make a Ginger Infused Simple Syrup

This is so easy and packs a punch for a variety of applications. I especially like adding to cocktails that need some sweet but still have some bite. A lot of recipes tell you peel the ginger, I don’t bother. Just make sure you filter with a fine mesh strainer.

One of my most popular post was Carolina Mule – An Adult Beverage Recipe. That was the first time I mentioned ginger simple syrup. I’ll be post a few more cocktail recipes in coming months, so stay tuned.

Ingredients for Ginger Simple Syrup

  • 1 large portion fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions to make Ginger Simple Syrup

  1. Add sugar, water and ginger to a small sauce pan. Slowly bring the mixture to a simmer while whisking.
  2. Allow to simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, whisk occasionally.
  3. Remove from the heat and cover. Allow to cool.
  4. Strain the syrup into an air tight container and refrigerate.
