The Casino cocktail dates back to at least the 1930s. It is in the category called Daisies. Daises include a spirit, citrus and some sort of sweetener. The Casino (and really any of the category) appealed to me because they all live on the boozy, savory/sour side of cocktails. This has always been my preference over sweet cocktails. The original Casino included “Old Tom Gin” which apparently is a sweeter gin than what I generally have around the house, London Dry.
Ingredients for a Casino Cocktail
- 1.75 oz London Dry Gin (we prefer Bombay Sapphire)
- 0.75 oz. lemon juice
- 0.75 oz. maraschino liqueur
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- Luxardo cherry for garnish
How to make a Casino Cocktail
- Add gin, lemon juice, maraschino liqueur, orange bitter to a cocktail mixer.
- Shake until well chilled, 20 seconds or so.
- Strain into a coupe or Nick and Nora cocktail glass.
- Garnish with cherry.
