What the heck is a Summer Peach Manhattan? Well I thought I was making it up but it turns out it was already a thing. This cocktail was inspired by some leftovers from homemade Local South Carolina Peach Ice Cream which is an almost exact copy of my Local Strawberry Ice Cream recipe. Both ice cream recipes macerated fruits (peaches and strawberries). I used the macerating liquid to make simple syrups. I’ve already created an Improved (Strawberry) Whiskey Cocktail with the strawberry simple syrup with more to come. This is the first cocktail with the peach simple syrup. You can obviously use any simple syrup or sweetener like honey or syrup if you don’t have peach.
Ingredients for a Summer Peach Manhattan
- 2.5 ounces Barrel Proof Bourbon or Rye Whiskey (or a combination)
- 1 ounce Peach Simple Syrup
- 1 dash aromatic bitters
- 1 dashes orange bitters
How to make a Summer Peach Manhattan
- Add the whiskey, peach simple syrup and two bitters to a cocktail mixing glass with ice.
- Stir until combined and chilled.
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
- Garnish with a slice of peach and enjoy.
