I posted a few weeks ago about The Bee’s Knees cocktail. It was a lovely, prohibition drink. After posting, I heard about the Bee Sting, which is essentially the same cocktail but with fresh jalapeno muddled in the shaker. Basically, it adds a little spicy kick to a sweet and tangy drink. If you like this recipe, check out other old school cocktails on my blog.
This drink was very good. If you don’t like a lot of spicy, go easy on the jalapeno. Maybe even remove the stems and seeds. The way I made this one, it was almost too spicy. Make sure you double strain this one with a fine mesh strainer to get the seeds out if you keep them in. I think I prefer the Bee’s Knees if I’m honest but I liked it none the less.
Ingredients for a Bee Sting Cocktail
- 2 ounces gin, I like Bombay Sapphire
- 3/4 ounce fresh Lemon Juice
- 1/2 fresh jalapeno pepper
- 1/2 ounce Honey Simple Syrup
- Jalapeno pepper, sliced thin, for garnish
How to make a Bee Sting Cocktail
- Add jalapeno into a cocktail shaker and gentile muddle to release the pepper essence.
- Add gin, lemon juice and honey syrup with ice.
- Shake until chilled and combined, 15 seconds.
- Double strain into a chilled coupe or Nick and Nora cocktail glass.
- Garnish with thinly sliced jalapenos.
- Enjoy.
