Honey Deuce Cocktail from the US Open

If you are not a tennis fan or watch the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York, you might not know about their official drink. The Honey Deuce.

Way back in 2006, Grey Goose vodka, an official sponsorship of the U.S. Open, contracted with a local restaurateur to concoct a drink to serve at the tournament. The drink includes vodka, obviously, Chambord and topped off with lemonade. The most fun thing about the drink is they are garnished with honeydew melon balls, which strongly resemble tennis balls. Hence the name, Honey Deuce. Get it.

The Honey Deuce was meant to be a refreshing drink for the mid-summer, outdoor tennis tournament. I was intrigued by the drink even though it really goes against my preference to cocktails that are boozy and savory, not sweet. This drink is very sweet. The lemonade and the Chambord, a French raspberry liqueur, are both sweet. The vodka, for me, didn’t cut the sweetness enough. So, I increased the amount of vodka and decreased the amount of lemonade. Also, I mixed it in a shaker rather than simply pouring the ingredients over ice.

I posted a social reel which I’ve embedded below the pics. I hope you enjoy my version of the Honey Deuce cocktail from the U.S. Open.
