The Blinker Cocktail

Hat tip to Robb Report for the inspiration to make the Blinker Cocktail. The Blinker Cocktail dates back to at least the 1930s and was a twist on the Whiskey Sour. This one came up on my feed and I was intrigued. It’s an old school drink, it has whiskey and I got a new type of bitters out of it.

Ingredients for a Blinker Cocktail

  • 2 oz. barrel proof rye whiskey (we like Willett Family Reserve)
  • 0.75 oz. lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz. grenadine
  • 1 grapefruit peel
  • 2 dashes grapefruit bitters

How to make the Blinker Cocktail

  • Chill a coupe or Nick and Nora glass.
  • Add ice, rye whiskey, lemon juice, grenadine, grapefruit bitters and a piece of grapefruit peel to a cocktail shaker.
  • Shake for 15 seconds. Double strain into your chilled glass. Garnish with grapefruit peel.
  • Enjoy!
