The Red Hook is named after the Brooklyn, New York neighborhood and is a modern version of the Manhattan. The original recipe has Punt e Mes but I’ve read that a good substitute is 2:1 sweet vermouth and Campri. I had those so instead of buying another liqueur I went with the substitute. I also adjusted the quantities of each ingredient to allow for a “sidecar”.
I have a propensity for boozy cocktails and this one hits that mark.
Ingredients for a Red Hook Cocktail
- 3 oz rye whiskey
- 0.5 oz sweet vermouth
- 0.25 oz Campri
- 0.75 oz Luxardo Maraschino liqueur
- Maraschino cherry for garnish
How to make a Red Hook Cocktail
- Add whiskey, sweet vermouth, Campri and maraschino liqueur to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir to combine and chill, about 20 seconds.
- Strain into Nick and Nora glass and garnish maraschino cherry or two.
- Enjoy!
