I love a good Manhattan cocktail. I’ve posted several versions of a Manhattan (or direct decedents) but I realized I’d never posted the “classic” Manhattan. So here you go, just 3 ingredients which most of the cocktail obsessed world have on hand. Stir the drink to keep it nice and boozy. Add a brandied cherry as a garnish and there you have a classic.
Here are some other variation I’ve tried:
- Perfect Manhattan Cocktail
- Black Manhattan Cocktail
- French Manhattan Cocktail
- Summer Peach Manhattan
- Dry Manhattan (Brooklyn) Cocktail
- The Fourth Regiment Cocktail
- Red Hook Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients for a Classic Manhattan Cocktail
- 2 1/2 oz rye whiskey
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 Luxardo maraschino cherry for garnish
How to make a Classic Manhattan Cocktail
- Add the rye whiskey, sweet vermouth and the aromatic bitters in a cocktail mixing glass with ice.
- Stir to chill and combine, approximately 20 seconds.
- Strain into a chilled Nick and Nora glass. Garnish with cherry.
- Enjoy!
