The Cure Cocktail

I attended a national sales conference earlier this year. I left with a lot of knowledge, some swag and a lovely case of covid. I shared this with my wife so we both had to bunker in. By Friday I was feeling better but still testing positive, when The Cure Cocktail came across my feed I thought it was meant to be. I already had everything I needed. Did it cure me? Nope. I did however very much enjoy this drink.

This drink really had it all for me. I normal prefer whiskey or gin cocktails, the vodka is there but helps the other ingredients stand up. Sweet and a hint of spice from the ginger simple syrup, bitter (duh, from the bitters) and sour from the lemon juice. The drink was very well balanced. I’m not sure if the little “foam” on top is normal but I also liked it.

I do not know the origin of this cocktail. As I said, it came across my feed. The more I researched the drink the more variants I found. Since the recipe I first found had ingredients I already had, I went with the below and but it worked out great.

Ingredients for The Cure Cocktail

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 3/4 ounce ginger simple syrup (click for my recipe)
  • 3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Lemon peel for garnish

How to make The Cure Cocktail

  1. Add ice to a cocktail shaker. Add vodka, bitters, lemon juice and ginger simple syrup.
  2. Shake to combine and chill thoroughly.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
  4. Enjoy!
