I was very fortunate as a child to live in a small town in Northern Italy. As an Army brat, we traveled and lived all over the world. I actually went to an Italian preschool in Bussolengo, a small town near Verona. I think that was the first time I really remember enjoying food (other than sweats). Like the US, Italian cuisine is very different depending on where you are. The northern or top of the boot is very distinct from the southern part. When a new restaurant opened in our area that promised authentic northern Italian food, my interest was piqued.
The Chef and his wife had other Italian restaurants in the area but I had not been. I had heard great things though. So pre-COVID, we took my Mother for her birthday to L’incanto in Greer, SC. I have to say it was fantastic, truly northern Italian. Lot’s of little details confirmed the authenticity of the food and drinks. The final test was a twist of lemon zest with the espresso.
We each had something different and everything was amazing. My Mom had pancetta wrapped prawns (which I’ve had subsequently and loved). My wife had a special which was like a Cioppino or fish stew, which she loved. What I had is below described and shown in photos, and again, it was all amazing. My pasta was perfectly al denta, the sauce was legit, the marsapone and lemon zest added a nice little surprise when mixed together.
The atmosphere was great, the service was superb, an all in all awesome experience. Post COVID, we have ordered takeout and it was all just great. If you are in the Greenville, SC area and want authentic northern Italian cuisine, my family gives L’incanto a huge thumbs up.
