This is the one. I’ve been trying different cocktail recipes and posting them for a while now. Recently, I’ve been trying different Manhattan cocktail recipes. It is a classic cocktail that is very booze forward. First I tried a Perfect Manhattan, I still found it a bit sweet. Next I tried the Dry Manhattan, which wasn’t sweet enough. I inadvertently created a Brooklyn cocktail, by adding cherry liqueur to a dry Manhattan which actually turned out great. The Black Manhattan fits my tastes perfectly. Amaro is sweet, but not too sweet so it makes a perfect replacement for dry or sweet vermouth.
Ingredients for a Black Manhattan
- 2 ounces Rye Whiskey (I prefer Willett or Rittenhouse BIB)
- 1 ounce Amaro

- Strain to a chilled coupe or Nick and Nora glass.
- Garnish with Luxardo cherries.
