The Jasmine Cocktail

This drink is a relatively new drink compared to the cocktails I’ve been posting. The story I read was a bartenders friend asked him to make something he’d never made before. He’d been pushing the Pegu Club Cocktail. In order to make it something unique, he swapped out the Campari for the Angostura bitters and lemon juice for the lime juice. The bartender named the drink after his buddy. The funny thing is, the bartender, years later realized he misspelled his buddy’s name. Jasmin not Jasmine. However this drink came about, it is a good one.

Hattip to PunchDrink for the recipe and back story.

I added .5 oz more gin to satiate my preference towards more boozy drinks. Also, I know Grand Marnier is not orange liqueur, which the original recipe calls for. I used it because it is what I had and I like it.

Ingredients to The Jasmine Cocktail

  • 2 oz. gin, we like Bombay Sapphire
  • 0.25oz. orange liqueur, we used Grand Marnier
  • 0.25 oz. Campari
  • 0.75 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • Lemon peel for garnish

How to make a Jasmine Cocktail

  • Combine the gin, Grand Marnier, Campari and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker and add ice.
  • Shake to combine, about 15-20 seconds.
  • Strain into a coupe or Nick and Nora cocktail glass.
  • Garnish with lemon peel.
  • Enjoy.
