Fall for Greenville is an annual fall celebration of our “little” town. It’s all about local restaurants, lots of music and adult beverages. The festival describes itself as follows.
Discover a world of tempting tastes, sights and sounds, as mouthwatering aromas carry you along Greenville’s Main Street. With over 40 restaurants featuring over 200 menu items and free entertainment on seven stages, we invite you to enjoy the Southeast’s most popular outdoor festival.
I’ve posted awhile back (here and here) but thought it was worth a revisit. It has definitely gotten larger of the years. The basic idea is, local restaurants create 4 or 5 small plates of their signature dishes. Usually a couple appetizers, a main course or two and a dessert Enough to get a taste of the food that they make. You can walk about six blocks of Main Street with tents lining the streets. You buy tickets to pay for your food items with a huge variety of food, all either local or very small chains.
There is a beer garden with a lot of different options (26 breweries to be exact) including local favorites. There is a wine garden if that is your preference. There are also Budweiser beer tents throughout the event with the usual offerings plus their smaller acquisitions (including Wicked Weed, Devil’s Backbone and Goose Island). From start to finish there are bands playing on stages down most roads (7 different stages) and there is also a children’s area with rides. All pretty amazing and its free. Well, the music and entertainment is free. The food and beverage costs.
I usually recommend this event to everyone I know but I can no longer do that. It is just getting to big and you people need to stop crowding our streets and making me wait in lines to get my favorite foods. Well, I am joking. It is getting big and can be very crowded. I do have to wait in lines and some of my favorites sell out. With all that said, I still love this event and look forward to it every year. PS. A lot of the proceeds go to local charities. Win. Win. Win.
